At first, the problems are relatively simple.
Get the store launched. Drive traffic. Fulfill orders.
Then you grow.
Now there are apps, agencies, employees, inventory systems, promotions, reports, developers, customer-service tools, fulfillment partners and a backlog of things everyone agrees should probably get done.
Eventually the biggest challenge isn't finding another tool. It's figuring out what actually matters.
Resolves into
You need someone looking at the whole thing.
Your developer sees development.
Your paid-media agency sees acquisition.
Your email agency sees retention.
Your internal team sees today's priorities.
Gapstow looks across the eCommerce business—customer experience, technology, operations, marketing, data and execution—to determine where attention will create the most value.
And because we've spent years actually building and operating eCommerce experiences, our recommendations don't end in a presentation. We can help implement them.
Where we start

Many growing brands reach an awkward stage.
eCommerce is too important to manage between meetings, but adding another senior full-time hire isn't always the right answer.
Gapstow can step into that gap—helping establish priorities, guide internal teams, manage outside partners, evaluate technology, identify growth opportunities and make sure important initiatives actually move forward.
You may already have all the agencies you need. What you might be missing is someone making sure they're solving the right problems.
The economics of experience
The easiest number to compare in any development decision is the hourly rate. But the total cost of getting something done includes diagnosis time, rework, communication overhead, unnecessary development, maintainability and speed to a useful outcome.
Experience mostly shows up as diagnosis. Someone who has seen the pattern before solves the right problem correctly the first time — and that often matters more than finding the lowest quoted rate.
Gapstow's implementation work is built around total outcome, not hours logged.
Gapstow's perspective isn't based entirely on advising brands from the outside.
Founder Shawn Moreau co-founded Beard Coalition, helping build the brand and its eCommerce operation, grow the business and ultimately sell it.
That experience changes how we think about agency work.
Because when you're the merchant, recommendations aren't theoretical. You're spending your money, managing your inventory, serving your customers and living with the consequences of every decision.
Deep Shopify experience
We've worked across hundreds of eCommerce stores, with the overwhelming majority of that experience centered on Shopify.
We've migrated stores to it, redesigned them, managed them, optimized them, integrated them with complex business systems and built functionality that didn't exist off the shelf.
That depth matters.
But Shopify is still a tool. The goal is building a better eCommerce business—not simply a better Shopify store.
Bring us the weird one.
Not every company needs Gapstow managing its store.
Some already have capable internal teams.
We also work as an expert escalation point—stepping in when a migration, integration, Shopify problem or unusual requirement extends beyond the team's existing experience.
This engagement model is represented by the ongoing advisory relationship with ENKI, which reaches out when a task exceeds the Shopify knowledge or capability available internally.
When things go sideways
MIL Kimchi came to Gapstow after a development project had been poorly executed, leaving the brand with technical problems and a tight timeline.
Our job wasn't to spend three weeks producing a discovery deck.
It was to understand what went wrong, determine what actually needed fixing and get the work done correctly.
Sometimes strategy means knowing when to stop talking and start fixing things.
Not everything should be automated.
You probably don't need another Shopify app.
A redesign won't fix a strategy problem.
Your tech stack isn't your eCommerce strategy.
The cheapest developer isn't necessarily the cheapest solution.
A/B testing isn't appropriate for every store.
AI doesn't belong in every workflow.
Sometimes the best optimization is removing something.
Redesigns are visible, fundable and easy to agree on. They're also the wrong answer to most of the problems they get assigned to.
